2012 Board
Liz
Dickson
Liz was raised in Scotland and
moved with her family in her
early teens to the North of
England. She grew up observing
her father, an evangelist and
businessman, and her mother,
a school teacher, giving of
themselves to ministry in their local
community as well as overseas.
Liz recalls her first encounter
with Jesus Christ at 9 years
of age, hearing about a young
missionary woman who impacted the lives
of young women in Asia. However, as
a young adult Liz pursued a career
in business which together with her
passion for travel, led her to Greece
where she began a 20-year career in
the travel industry. As she advanced
through senior corporate management
in UK international tourism, Liz traveled
and worked globally in over 45 countries.
During this time, circumstances
causing heartache and brokenness
brought Liz back into a personal
relationship with Jesus at 31 years
old. Sensing God’s purpose in travel
was more than career success, she
recognized that in the core of her
heart there was still a strong childhood
desire to be in missions. However,
it took another 13 years of preparation
in God’s spiritual school of hard
knocks before Liz would be released
to her heart’s desire. During this
time she moved to Florida, USA, where
she continued business in tourism
and travel, also working with
several mission organizations assisting
them with their overseas groups and
ground operations.
However, following the impact of
9/11, the travel industry suffered
great losses and by 2002 Liz’s career
in travel came to an abrupt end.
Liz looked to the Lord for new direction.
She joined Campus Crusade for Christ,
Jesus Film Project, as an Affiliate
Staff member, working for four years
with churches and major donors to
reach those who had not heard of
Jesus in the farthest corners of
the world. She also opened and co-owned
a Curves franchise where for three
years she ministered to the spiritual
as well as physical needs of women
who came there for help.
God began
an aggressive work in Liz’s
heart for broken, hurting and spiritually
hungry women. Her encounters with women
in the slums of Nairobi in 2002 exposed
her to a new level of pain
and poverty. Subsequent trips to the
Middle East, China, Asia, Africa and
South America exposed her to women
with HIV, women in sex trafficking,
and women living in fear, abuse and
oppression. Her personal experiences
of financial losses, business failure
and broken relationships brought Liz
through her own valley of pain, and
she longed to share with these women
the love, joy and healing which she
had found in Jesus. She cried out to
God on their behalf “how can we help
these women to know your healing and
your love?”
In June 2006
God spoke the words “Love UnVeiled”
into Liz’s heart, confirming
the message He wanted her to share.
In the fall of 2007 Love UnVeiled Inc.
was formed with Liz as the founding
Executive Director and President.
