The Songs of the Butterflies

The atmosphere in the room was so heavy you could cut it. Seventeen beautiful sari-clad young women were ready to study God’s word and share it with others. They looked like butterflies but their eyes told us they were still living like caterpillars. They loved God but didn’t know how much He loved them. These precious Christian women were still tied up in bondage and fear, ignorant of His plans for them, of the song He wanted to put in their hearts. After 3 days sharing God’s desire for them to know Him and live in freedom like butter-flies - the light went on. New songs began to form. The Holy Spirit was setting butterflies free and they were learning to fly. It was a miracle. The heaviness was gone and light and joy replaced the darkness. I gave them each a picture showing many different butterflies and asked them to choose their favorite. Then I asked them to close their eyes and pray about what kind of butterfly God wanted them to be. Below are the songs they are singing.         --- Liz

ButterflyI like the bright orange butterfly. It reminds me of joy and I want to help others find joy. --Rebecca

ButterflyI like the common Buckeye. It's colors make me want to bring people out of darkness. -- Victoria

ButterflyI like the Eastern Blue Tail. It's small and simple, but it brings light. I am small, but I want to be light in the darkness. -- Maryia

ButterflyI want to be like the Viceroy and spread brightness and joy. --Lindi

ButterflyI like the cloudless Sulphur because it's one color. People change their colors in the church depending on where they are or who they are with, but I want to be one color all the time. -- Susan

ButterflyI like the colors of the Red Admiral. The black reminds me of my darkness. The red reminds me that Jesus' blood has healed me. The white tells me I'm pure in Jesus and I have His peace. -- Tami
